There is one thing
that really annoy's me! I get tired of all these email forwards promising
the blessings of God. I am sure you have seen them. They say something
like this:
"Send this
email to 5 people in the next 10 minutes and expect a miracle within
the next two days".
Occasionally one
of these will almost seem like a threat. Suggesting that you aren't
a "good Christian" if you do not send this on. An email guilt
trip! GIVE ME A BREAK!
All I can say is
that in our "technologically advanced" society where science
has supposed replaced God, so-called educated people seem to be VERY
GULLIBLE. My intention is not to offend anyone; but if you think that
God is going to send you a miracle simply because you forward an email.....
you have taken a serious leap from your senses.
Paul did not end
his letters with such things. He exhorted those to read the letters,
yes. But he did not say that reading it 5 times would cause God to send
a miracle! Unfortunately this type of mentality is rampant in "Christianity
today". Teachings are filled with "techniques" on how
to get what you want from God. Prayer Handkerchiefs, Miracle Waters
and other items, which, if USED, will cause God to send you a miracle.
Really? Wouldn't that mean that God was at your disposal? Can God
be coerced into acting on your behalf upon forwarding an email? Or buying
a Prayer Cloth? A little bit of critical thinking will reveal the
ugly truth that this is much more like WITCHCRAFT than Biblical Christianity.
