The
Blood
Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have
given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls:
for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Ephesians 1:7 In
whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace.
In the bible we
have an old and a New Testament. Leviticus 17:11 is an example of what
God required for the remission of sin under the Old Testament. The blood
of animals was required to make atonement for the sins of the people.
When the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary however we entered
into the new testament, as seen in Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup
after supper saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which
is shed for you.
No longer must we sacrifice animals to receive redemption, all we have
to do now is put our faith in the blood of Jesus.
Romans 3:23-26 For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare, I say at this time his righteousness: that he might be just
and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Many would say Christians
are to bloody and even some so-called Christians try to remove the blood.
I say if Christianity is bloody then so am I. There is no salvation
except you accept the perfect sacrifice of Jesus's shed blood on the
cross, and once you accept it you are saved forever as we see in Hebrews
10:14 For by one offering, he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.
You see it was not
possible for us to obtain eternal redemption on out own, only the Lord
Jesus could do it.
Hebrews 9:11-12 But Christ being come an high priest of good things
to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands,
that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats
and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once in the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.
You see it took
a perfect sacrifice to obtain such a thing, and only the Lord was perfect.
1Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible
things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by
tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ,
as a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Once you have accepted
and asked Christ into your heart you no longer belong to this world,
you now belong to the Lord.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church
of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
We are either close
to God or very far away, the only way to get close is to accept and
place your faith in the shed blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off
are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
It all boils down
to this outside of the blood we are defenseless, vulnerable and headed
for destruction. Outside of the blood there shall no safety be found.
The same was true for the Israelites in Egypt.
Exodus 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses
where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the
plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of
Egypt.
This was the Pass
Over and as you can see there was no safety outside of the blood, the
same goes for us now.
Romans 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified
by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Praise the Lord!
The burden of sin
is heavy and we all know to remain in sin is to be condemned.
Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The only way any
of us can be free from the burden of sin is to be washed in the blood.
1John 1:7 But if
we walk in light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all
sin.
Revelation 1:5 And
from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten
of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that
loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.
Are you washed in
the blood?
